Stud Males

Among our herd are two Accoyo Peruvian stud males, Reno and Cajamarca. Both have produced strong, well-formed cria with excellent coverage of dense fibre.

Jolimont Reno

Reno was born on 2nd March, 1998 and is a full Peruvian male, very light fawn, almost white, in colour. Reno was bred in Australia by Jolimont Alpacas, a long established and well respected breeder. Reno’s sire was an Accoyo from the world famous Don Julio Barreda of Peru. Don Julio Barreda has been breeding pure bred alpacas at his ranch, Estancia Accoyo, for more than forty-five years. His breeding programme has produced a uniform herd which have the same characteristics – solid, well-boned alpacas with extremely dense fleece in white to light fawn. The fleeces are so dense that they ‘crack’ as the alpaca walks. The Accoyo stock are world renown and have had a major influence on the world-wide alpaca industry.

Reno was imported into the U.K. by Bozedown Alpacas and has lived in Derbyshire since 2001. He is BAS registered and has a micron count of 27. He produces around 5kg of good quality fleece each year. He has a 100% conception rate and his many offspring show his Accoyo characteristics – dense fibre with excellent coverage on the body, face and legs.

Toft Cajamarca

Cajamarca was born on 2nd June, 2002 and is a Peruvian male and is white in colour. Cajamarca was bred by Toft Alpacas in the U.K. and both his sire and grand-sire are Peruvian Accoyo alpacas. He exhibits the typical Accoyo traits of very dense, thick fleece, excellent coverage on body, legs and face and a very gentle nature. He is BAS registered and has a micron count of 25.6.

Cajamarca has won many awards, including first places in the Junior White Huacaya class at the South of England Show in 2003 and the Senior White Huacaya Male class at the Kenilworth Show in 2004. Also, at the 2003 Royal Show, he was placed third in the Sire of Progeny class and fourth in the Intermediate White Huacaya Male class. This was bettered in 2004 when he was placed second in the Sire of Progeny class.
